Bullen Range Road

Bullen Range Road

What is this track rated? (ratings guide)

Medium

A good track for beginners who want to sample something about as close to Canberra as you can get. There are two river crossings on this one. The one at the end near Murrays Corner is a paved crossing and the depth is obvious, don't sweat it. The earlier one, Paddys River Crossing (Stretch Goal 1) near Cotter Caves can be tricky at times, entirely dependent on the amount of recent rain. Use some common sense here and check the depth and the current before entering. It has a sandy bottom as well.

There's also a steep descent (Stretch Goal 2), or climb if you do this in reverse, which can be a little tricky if wet.  When adding together the trickier river crossing and this steep section, I rated this track BEGINNERS (MODERATE) rather than BEGINNERS (EASY).

There's another little challenge (Strech Goal 3) just off the main track map to be had here as well, a nice rocky climb consisting of a couple of sections that is good to practice if you haven't done rocky climbs before. Good to get your confidence up.

The trickier parts of this when at their worst (wet and slippery) will make this a 4x4 track only, or AWD in the dry, maybe.

Enjoy.
